Part 4 of SEO series: Promote your website effectively

If you have been reading my search engine optimization (SEO) series then by now you know about the importance of keywords, blogging and utilizing your influencers and resources. Today, I am going to talk about effectively promoting your website content that you worked so hard on to create.

Effectively promoting your blog and website content is important because it not only lets current and potential customers know about your products and services but it also increases backlinks to your website. The more links your website has on other reputable websites optimizes your chances of getting found online and being displayed on the first page of Google and other search engines.

Places to effectively promote your website

Search engines

Create profiles on search engines’ local business directories, such as Google Places, Bing Local and Yahoo Local Listings. Not only should you create a profile on these websites, but you should also submit your website to Google Maps. Here is a link to more things you can submit to Google in order to optimize your online presence.

Offline promotion

According to Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide, putting effort into the offline promotion of your company or website can also be rewarding. “For example, if you have a business site, make sure its URL is listed on your business cards, letterhead, posters, etc. You could also send out recurring newsletters to clients through the mail letting them know about new content on the company’s website.”

Social media

Make sure your company pages on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, etc. are promoting your product pages and blog posts. Additionally, send your employees links to the content and an already written post so they can easily and quickly share it with their social networks. If you are on Pinterest or Instagram, which I highly recommend that you are, then share your images on those social networks.

Social bookmarking

Social bookmarking is a way for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. Examples of social bookmarking websites include StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious and Reddit.

Product page

The product page is your sales landing page that you continually change based on whichever product or service you are highlighting at the time. Make sure you are not only sharing this landing page on your social networks but also by adding a link to it in the call-to-action sentence at the bottom of your blog post.

Marketing partners

Make sure you are utilizing your partnerships online by asking your partners to share and link to your content on their websites and social media profiles. In return, you can do the same for them. This is a sure way to draw in new unique visitors to your website.
